This policy explains how Earmonic Games Ltd (“Earmonic”, “Earmonic Games”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use Earmonic — Train Your Ears (the “App”), visit its support pages, or contact us. Earmonic is designed to work local-first: core listening progress stays on your device unless you choose Google Drive backup.
1. Who is responsible
Earmonic Games Ltd is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Earmonic Games Ltd is a private company limited by shares registered in England and Wales under company number 17432593, with its registered office at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to support@earmonic.com. Please write “Earmonic privacy request” in the subject line.
2. Information kept on your device
The App stores the information needed to personalize training and preserve progress, including:
- completed and mastered lessons, answers, accuracy, streaks, skill estimates, review dates, and practice history;
- activity dates, recommendations started or completed, personal records, and Ear Check results;
- musician goals, practice preferences, playback and appearance settings, and reminder time;
- a profile name, avatar style, and accent color you choose; and
- an unfinished practice session when needed for recovery.
This information is stored in the App's private local storage. It is not sent to Earmonic Games Ltd for analytics or advertising.
3. Optional Google connection and Drive backup
If you choose to connect Google, the App receives your Google account identifier and the basic profile details Google returns, such as name, email address, and profile image, so it can show the connected account and sync status. The App requests only the Google Drive drive.appdata scope.
Your Earmonic progress is uploaded as earmonic_progress.json to the hidden application-data folder in your own Google Drive. That folder is available only to this App and is not a public Drive file. The permission does not allow the App to read your other Drive files. Sync combines earned lessons, best scores, activity dates, and recent sessions, and deduplicates sessions by their identifiers. The App keeps up to 200 recent sessions; older aggregate counts are preserved conservatively when overlap cannot be reconstructed. Profile, reminder, appearance, and practice preferences remain on the device.
Once connected, backup runs after saved progress changes and when the App returns to the foreground. You can also choose Sync now from Profile or Settings. If backup fails, the local save remains available and the App shows a retry message. A successful backup can restore completed progress after reinstalling and connecting the same Google account; an unfinished session is not backed up.
The App uses your Google account's stable identifier—prefixed with google:—as a RevenueCat App User ID so Pro access can follow the connected account. The App does not intentionally use your email address as the RevenueCat App User ID.
4. Purchases and subscriptions
Apple App Store or Google Play processes payment details. Earmonic uses RevenueCat to validate receipts, determine subscription status, restore purchases, prevent purchase fraud, and unlock the Pro entitlement. The store and RevenueCat may process purchase history, product and entitlement status, transaction identifiers, an anonymous or connected App User ID, and limited app, platform, device, network, and diagnostic information needed to provide those functions. Earmonic does not receive your full card number.
5. Microphone, clapping, and MIDI
Singing and clapping practice
If you start singing or clapping practice, the App asks for microphone permission and analyzes a short PCM audio stream in memory to estimate pitch, timing, signal quality, and confidence. Raw audio samples are discarded after each capture; they are not saved or uploaded. Derived answers, scores, and training history can be saved as progress and included in optional Drive backup.
MIDI practice
If you use MIDI, the App checks available MIDI devices, connects to the device you select, and evaluates note events locally for note matching and timing. The MIDI stream is not uploaded. Derived answers and scores may be included in optional progress backup.
6. Notifications, audio, and permissions
Daily reminders are optional local notifications. The selected time and enabled state remain on your device. Built-in lesson audio is synthesized by the App at runtime. Permission choices are controlled through your device settings and can be changed there.
7. Support and website information
If you email support, we receive your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to send. Please do not send passwords, access tokens, store credentials, or unnecessary recordings. Our hosting and security providers may process basic technical logs such as IP address, browser or device type, requested page, timestamp, and security diagnostics to deliver and protect these pages.
8. What Earmonic does not do
- No advertising or sale of personal information.
- No cross-app advertising tracking.
- No public profiles, global leaderboards, or social discovery.
- No production behavioral analytics in the current App.
- No upload of raw microphone recordings or MIDI streams.
9. Service providers and international processing
Information may be processed by Apple or Google for store and billing services, RevenueCat for subscription management, Google for an optional Drive connection, and our hosting and email providers for the website and support. These providers operate under their own terms and privacy notices. They may process data in countries other than yours and use appropriate safeguards where required by law.
10. Account and data deletion
You can request deletion of your Earmonic account identity and associated company-controlled data by emailing support@earmonic.com. You do not need to reinstall or open the App to make this request. We may ask for limited information needed to locate and verify the relevant record, such as the Google account email you connected or a recent Google Play order reference. Never send a password, access token, or full payment-card number.
- Local data remains until you clear the App's data or remove the App, subject to your device's backup behavior.
- Disconnecting Google stops the App's connected session but does not by itself erase local progress or the existing hidden Drive backup.
- You can remove Earmonic's hidden Drive data through your Google Drive app-data controls or ask us for guidance.
- An Earmonic deletion request does not delete your Google account and does not cancel an active Google Play subscription; subscriptions are managed in Google Play.
- After verification, we will delete associated data we control and request deletion from applicable service providers, except information that must be retained for transaction, fraud-prevention, tax, accounting, security, or legal obligations.
- Store and RevenueCat purchase records may be retained for transaction, fraud-prevention, tax, accounting, legal, and entitlement obligations.
- Support messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request and meet legal or security obligations.
To request deletion of information controlled by Earmonic Games Ltd, contact us. We may need to verify the request. Data controlled by Apple, Google, or another provider must also be managed through that provider.
11. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a portable copy of personal information, withdraw consent, and complain to a data protection authority. You may decline Google sync, microphone, MIDI, and notification features and continue using the App's supported core experience.
12. Children
Earmonic is a general-audience music-learning product and is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian should supervise optional account connection, purchases, and support contact where required. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
13. Security and changes
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we handle, but no device, transmission, or online service can be guaranteed completely secure. We may update this policy when the App, providers, or legal requirements change. The date above shows when the current version took effect; material changes will be presented appropriately.
